NZ At War Report

In Rimu this week I did some WW1 learning. The teachers told us to publish report about New Zealand in the war of Gallipoli and post it on our blog.
Hope you enjoy.

WW1 started when Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated in 1914 in hungry when he was the going to get a higher royal title, this caused Germany to declared World War 1 and its allies joined them. In 1916 the gallipoli campaign started, The goal was to take away germans allies, NZ AU fought against the turks. They were known as the ANZACS. The First try to go in gallipoli when the Military battleships but there was to big problems, there was sea mines and not all of them was checked, also They couldn't get a good view of them in shooting range. Then they had a new idea… They sent the boys in rowing boats to the place now known of wear the war of gallipoli came to bee. Where they had landed to was a bad place for a start. When they were running into the beach lots of the soldiers were getting killed(ANZACS). As the war went bye most men were dead or woodend on the battlefield and they by now had lost lots of reinforcements. The ANZACS decided to retreat. After WW1 had ended germany signed the treaty of versailles.

  1. Thank you for your report Ian. The reasons for the start of WW1 are complicated to say the least and you have made a valiant attempt to clarify them. As I have just read on Wikipedia: The causes of World War I remain controversial and debated questions. World War I began in the Balkans in late July 1914 and ended in November 1918, leaving 17 million dead and 20 million wounded.

Sadly The Treaty of Versailles was later seen as being too pejorative towards the Germany and contributed to the causes for WWII.

I look forward to your next blog post.

    1. Hi Mr Robertson.

      Thanks for telling me this.
I did Know about what happened to the germans ( what caused WW2).
I think that before the war the germans were having it hard aswell in WW1, I think none of the countries was really doing the wright thing, I only have good thing about Hitler, he did make the countries very good and beautiful.

      Kind regards Ian.

  2. Hi Ian, My name is Bruno from Waikowhai Primary School. I really like your blog post about WW1, it was really interesting. It made me think about all the soldiers that died to help the ANZACS. It also made me think about a couple of weeks ago we had to pair up in buddies and do some maths about WW1. Maybe next time you could work on your spelling a little bit more because some of the words are spelt wrong. If you would like to check out my blog here it is http://wpsbrunoa.blogspot.co.nz/
